Taiwan reported 306 confirmed Covid-19 cases so far but 5 deaths, which are way too many as it has a very good healthcare system and most people who travel between Taiwan and the Mainland are of sound age business people. Recently the Taiwan government has tightened control of media, especially internet, many were charged for alledged misinformation. It is very likely the government is purposely under reporting cases to help it politicise the issue with WHO, which it has been doing.
Hong Kong has many more cases but Macau has very few, both are logical. Hong Kong is an open city with people coming in and out from the world over. Interesting to note, majority of the cases has been in the last few weeks, mostly imports from U.S, UK, India, and other regions and countries, not from Wuhan or the Mainland. In the early months January and February, there were few cases of community cluster transmission as Hong Kong took early steps screening and tracking travellers from the mainland. In addition of the recent imports, bars and bands, mostly westerners and Filipinos, now have become the new hotspots for community infection, mainly because these travellers had not been rigorously screened and they did not wear masks while they went about the city. Most people who go to Macau transit through Hong Kong or Guangdong, which serve as the primary screening barrier for Macau, this partially explains its low numbers.
April 6 report Taiwan ruling party health officials went on TV and internet to ask people to reuse their masks by "cooking" them with a rice cooker, then eat their rice again! Yummy rice enriched with protein and genetic RNA materials! Many "stable geniuses" in Taiwan, I guess. And they claim, experiments proved that people can "cook" their masks five times before discarding them. Everybody in the world had thought Taiwan had plenty of masks for its residents, as it just sent out to other countries 10 million masks for free a few days ago! Why even bother with re-use?
April 9 Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus finally fired back at Taiwan after suffering 3 months of personal attacks. Sixth death out of 382 reportedly confirmed.
April 19 Taiwan reported 21 sailors infected after visiting Palau but Palau insisted it had no domestic cases. First the visit was more than 1 month ago (March 12-15), if it were from Palau and undetected enroute back to Taiwan until now, a lot more should be infected by now. Second, Palau has no connection with China mainland, so it can not blame China this time. Third, Palau relies on Taiwan on everything, including medicals, so Taiwan can essentially control the narratives here.
April 22 Singapore report, Taiwanese Sun Szu-Yen intentionally harassed Devika Rani Muthu Krishna on 12 April at about 4.43pm at the entrance of ION Orchard by sneezing in her direction and shouting “shut up” in English. Her alleged offence is a contravention of the Protection from Harassment Act. In a separate charge, on 4 June last year, Sun threw a model globe, a plastic chair, a vacuum cleaner, a glass bottle and a few pencils down from level three of her condominium at Fifth Avenue, at about 10pm. Her charge relates to endangering the personal safety of others through a rash act.
May 4: WHO read out the email from Taiwan which contained nothing of a warning. Unless Taiwan came up with new evidence, clearly Taiwan lied again.
May 11: McEnany, Kushner and O'Brien wore Taiwan masks at briefing. Taiwan donated 500k and WH kept 3,600. Cheap stunt by Taiwan and WH, again.
May 19: Taiwan's attempt together with U.S to smear WHO and China at the World Health Assembly failed.
May 20: Trump approved sale to Taiwan 18 MK-48 Mod6 Advanced Technology Heavy Weight Torpedoes and related equipment for an estimated cost of $180 million.
Aug 24: study in Changhua about 2% population have antibodies, another proof Taiwan underreporting for political gains.
Sept 2: Japan and Vietnam report imported cases from Taiwan. Hong Kong as well.
Oct 7: Japan reported at least 3 imported cases from Taiwan in recent days, France as well
